(February 17, 2016) — Tarleton State (15-9, 9-5) continued its longest win streak under second-year head coach Misty Wilson and continued to dominate Eastern New Mexico (10-14, 5-9) more than just about any opponent it faces with a 76-60 win in Portales, New Mexico Wednesday evening.

It was the sixth straight win by the TexAnns, lifting them into sole possession of third place in the Lone Star Conference for at least one night until Texas Woman’s returns to the court. Tarleton won its 19th straight against ENMU at Greyhound Arena and has won 28 of the last 30 in the series.

Tarleton shot better than 60 percent for much of the first half, building a 14-point lead despite the hot shooting of Sarah Stinnett for ENMU. Tarleton finished the half shooting 58 percent and leading 44-30.

ENMU got as close as 10 in the second half, but the TexAnns used a decisive 20-4 run to pull away. The run was capped by a Bailey Wipff 3-pointer and a jumper by Ikpeaku Iwobi to make it 68-42.

Tarleton shot 54 percent for the game and was led by Iwobi and Wipff with 13 points each. Reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week Breanna Fuller accumulated 10 points, six boards and a blocked shot. Morgan Ashmore scored six points and dealt five assists.

Contributors of the bench continued their heavy impact on the Tarleton win streak with Meagan O’Dell scoring nine, true freshman Catherine Okwilagwe netting six with seven boards and Averie Mack also scoring six.

Stinnett led all scorers with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Tarleton win streak faces its litmus test on Saturday when No. 8 West Texas A&M visits Wisdom Gym for a 5 p.m. start. Tarleton’s last loss came on the road in overtime at WTAMU.
