STEPHENVILLE (February 24, 2016) — The new assistant principal at Hook Elementary School has a familiar face and loves the district’s philosophy of integrating technology into classrooms.

Daresa Rhine was approved by Stephenville ISD trustees for a promotion to assistant principal at Hook during their regular monthly meeting Monday. She has been at Hook 10 years, teaching third grade for five and working in the library for five.

Hook Elementary includes third and fourth grade students and recently kicked off the district’s iChampion 1:1 technology initiative that provides each Hook student with an iPad and each teacher with a MacBook Pro featuring correlating software.

“I’m really excited about Hook’s 1:1 plan and facilitating the technology component. I’m a techie type person so I’m excited where we are headed in developing 21st century learners,” said Rhine, an Amarillo native who holds a bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M and a master’s from Tarleton.

The only thing Rhine is more excited about than technology is the students and teachers.

“I look forward to working with all the teachers, and, of course the students,” she said. “It’s all about the students and creating an educational environment for them that is safe, effective, and makes them feel responsible for their own learning. My job as assistant principal is to facilitate that so they can reach their full potential each and every day.”

Rhine, 34, and her husband, Matt, have been married 11 years and are the proud parents of twin daughters Braylyn and Makaelyn, 3.

Rhine’s husband, Matt, is a Tarleton alumnus.

“Whenever Tarleton and West Texas A&M play in football we’re always talking trash at my house,” Rhine said with a laugh.

But even more than WTAMU maroon, Rhine bleeds Stephenville blue and gold.

“I love Hook and the direction we are headed,” she said. “I’m very excited and can’t wait to embrace my new role.”
