(February 25, 2016) — Lingleville shot 62 percent, amassed 37 assists and had four players score at least 13 points Thursday evening, and it was more than Priddy could handle.
Jarod Hagood and Sergio Rangel each had career nights with Hagood pouring in 25 points, Rangel 21 and each pulling down 14 rebounds to lead Lingleville to a fifth straight area championship with a 90-60 victory over Priddy at De Leon High School.
Lingleville advances to the regional quarterfinals and will face Graford or Covington, who play Friday in Stephenville.
The Cardinals wanted to play fast, and for a half, Priddy kept up, with Lingleville clinging to a 40-33 advantage at the break.
But as the pace – and the ball movement – continued for Lingleville, it wore down a Priddy team that was outscored 50-23 after halftime.
Hagood and Rangel weren’t the only Cardinal to turn in impressive all-around lines. Senior guards Tim Griffin and Colbe Stoker were just as dominant in the backcourt, with Griffin accounting 18 points, seven assists, six steals and four rebounds while Stoker doubled up with 13 points and 15 assists along with six boards and four steals.
Tom VanKranenburg dealt eight assists, collected six boards and scored four points for Lingleville. Bailey Fenn added six points and five rebounds. Parker Hallmark had two points and Devon Corpus one.
