(February 29, 2016) — Stephenville placed third in girls and fifth in boys in the final team standings at the Ram Relays Saturday in Mineral Wells.

Hailey Martin and Josh Nowell each won events for Stephenville. Martin, the leading scorer for the Honeybees with 28 points, won the triple jump, was second in the 100 meter hurdles and ran the first leg of relay teams that placed second and third.

Nowell won the long jump and was third in triple jump, scoring 16 points for the Yellow Jackets, who also received a boost from senior sprinter Jon Clark Giddings. Placing second in the 100 meter and leading off two relay teams left Giddings with 10.5 points.

Two-time 800 meter state champ Bayleigh Chaviers did not run her signature event for the Honeybees, though she did anchor two successful relays. Stephenville is shorthanded for the foreseeable future because of a knee injury to star sprinter Kylee Ponder.
