STEPHENVILLE (April 4, 2016) – Thursday afternoon two female suspects defaced city property when they spray painted graffiti on the Graham Street bridge near the walking trail in the Stephenville City Park.
Monday morning, within minutes of releasing still frames of the two suspects from surveillance video, the girls were identified as current and former TexAnn basketball players. Ikpeaku Iwobi, a current TexAnn, and Hannah Riojas, a former TexAnn, were both captured in the shots shared by the Stephenville PD.
According to officials at the Stephenville Police Department, the two suspects turned themselves in Monday, after the information was released to the public. After being released by the police department, Iwobi and Riojas went back to the scene and cleaned up the mess they made Thursday.
“City officials said they would not press charges on the subjects as they were remorseful and willing to clean up the graffiti,” Lt. Doug McClammy said.
Tarleton officials has this to say about the incident Monday morning:
“We are aware of the incident regarding one of our student-athletes and we are very disappointed that this situation has come up,” said TSU Athletics Director, Lonn Reisman. “At this point, we are going to cooperate with the Stephenville Police Department as they conduct their investigation. We have no further comment at this time.”
