Tarleton posts nine provo marks, wins nine events

COMMERCE (April 17, 2016) – Tarleton Track & Field competed at the East Texas Invitational on Saturday and recorded nine NCAA provisional marks and won nine events at Texas A&M-Commerce.

DeAijha Hicks-Boyce contributed to four of those NCAA marks, as the sophomore finished first in the 100 meters (11.82) and first in the 200 meters (season-best 24.34).

The women’s 4×100-meter relay of Deylinn Garrett, Hicks-Boyce, Hollie Boyd, and Ariel Ballardfinished first in a time of 46.55 to set an NCAA provisional mark. The TexAnns’ fastest time this season is 46.00. The 4×400-meter relay (Ashley Johnson, Hicks-Boyce, Arianna Stegall, and Jasmine Owens won the event in a time of 3:47.73 for another NCAA mark and the fastest time of the season for the TexAnns.

In the women’s 100-meter hurdles, Deylinn Garrett won the event in 14.49 and teammate Molly Money was right behind in second place in 14.73.

On the men’s side, the Texans set three NCAA marks in field events. William Carlton set a personal-best in the pole vault by clearing 16′ .75″, ranking second in the Lone Star Conference.  In the high jump, Rascellis Williams also set a personal-best by clearing 6′ 9″. Williams’ time currently ranks second in the Lone Star Conference this season. Chantz Chambers claimed an NCAA mark in the long jump with a person-best jump of 23′ 8.75″.

In the running events, Gilson Umunnakwe finished second overall in the 400 meters in an NCAA provisional time of 47.86. It’s Umunnakwe’s fastest time of his career. Randall Kadlacek ran the 400-meter hurdles in an NCAA provisional time of 53.47, his fastest time of the season.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay (Blake Eschbach, Clarencio Guerrero, Cameron Krc, Gilson Umunnakwe) won its event in a time of 3:14.36. Thorne Pettigrew won the 5000-meter by 11 seconds, finishing in 15:28.57. In the 110 meter hurdles, Dalton Stidham won the event in 14.69 and Randall Kadlacek finished second in 14.97.

Tarleton Track & Field will compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor University on April 23.
