STEPHENVILLE (April 20, 2016) – Tarleton heads into the final week of the spring season as the No. 6-ranked team in the South Central region.

The TexAnns, who currently boast a record of 13-6, checked in at the No. 6 spot in Wednesday’s latest rankings. St. Mary’s, Cameron, Midwestern State, and St. Edward’s round out the top four of the poll while Newman comes in at No. 5 ahead of Tarleton.

Since the tennis playoff format was adjusted two years ago to accept four teams instead of five, the three league tournament champions and one at-large team from each region will advance to the regional tournament round. During that round, the top seed will host the No. 4 seed while the No. 2 seed plays host at their home court to the No. 3-ranked team in the region.

The winners of each match will advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 tournament.

Tarleton is currently playing a road match at Dallas Baptist and have earned the No. 3 seed in next weekend’s Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. The TexAnns will open the LSC Tournament with a 10 a.m. match against Midwestern State in Wichita Falls.
