STEPHENVILLE (May 3, 2016) — Already five strong, the recruiting class for women’s basketball is reportedly still growing at Tarleton State.

With at least two more names expected to be added, Tarleton has already signed a forward, two big guards and a pair of point guards, four of them high school prospects and one a Division I transfer.

The TexAnns are coming off a 17-11 season, finishing fourth in the Lone Star Conference before reaching the semifinals of the LSC Championship. Tarleton loses four seniors in guards Raven McGrath, Morgan Ashmore and Meagan O’Dell and center Breanna Fuller.

Here is a look at who Tarleton has signed so far:

Lanie Roberts, 5-10 Guard, Lipan

Roberts is probably the best known player in the class, having been the Class A State Tournament MVP before being named 1A-4A Player of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. A four-time all-state selection and four-time district MVP, Roberts averaged 23 points as a sophomore and 30 as a junior. Lipan reached the state tournament three straight years during her high school career, and Roberts made the all-tournament team each season. She scored a state tournament record 49 points in the semifinals this season. The opposing team, Roby, had only 46. This standout grew up attending camps at Tarleton, so Wilson and staff already have a good idea what they are getting.

Hannah Allen, 5-11 Guard, Highland

Like Roberts, Allen will be making the transition from Class A all the way to NCAA Division II, and it’s quite a leap. But also like Roberts, Allen brings to Tarleton a big guard that fills up the stat sheet. She was already a three-time all-state selection when she signed early with Tarleton, having averaged 19.5 points, 2.0 blocks, 4.8 steals, 3.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds as a junior when she was her district’s MVP.

Kylie Collins, 5-7 Guard, Mansfield Lake Ridge

While Roberts and Allen likely have a future at the 2 or 3 (shooting guard or small forward) spots, Collins is a true point guard. She averaged 8.0 points, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.9 boards over her sophomore and junior seasons before joining Roberts and Allen in signing early with the TexAnns. Collins helped Lake Ridge to the 5A regional quarterfinals three times and on to the regional semifinals her junior season.

Trejouir Wilson, 5-6 G, Brownwood

Wilson is no stranger to Stephenville-area basketball fans after facing off with Stephenville High School eight times the last three seasons including helping Brownwood eliminate the SHS in the Region I-4A quarterfinals in February. Wilson averaged 20.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 4.3 assists playing point guard for Brownwood, which reached the regional semifinals. She received consecutive TABC and TGCA all-state honors to end her career and was first-team All-Big Country Super Team as a senior. Wilson leaves Brownwood as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,683 career points.

Mackenzie Hailey, 6-2 F, Burleson (Texas-Arlington)

The only transfer among the five Tarleton newcomers, Hailey was a star at Burleson High School, the alma mater of Tarleton coach Wilson. The 6-2 forward averaged 20.4 points and 10 rebounds as a junior then finished her career scoring 17.8 and grabbing 12.8 boards as a senior. She signed with UTA out of high school and competed in six games as a freshman before missing the rest of the season with a knee injury.
