Texan track ranked 12th in nation

STEPHENVILLE (May 3, 2016) – Tarleton Track & Field is ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division II by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Texans climbed 14 spots after being ranked No. 26 last week. Tarleton is one of three Lone Star Conference teams ranked by the USTFCCCA with Texas A&M-Kingsville coming in at No. 3 and Angelo State at No. 16. The LSC is the second-ranked conference in the nation behind the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Tarleton is coming off a successful meet at the Abilene Christian Twilight where they won six events, set one school record, and claimed 10 NCAA provisional marks. The Texans have 10 athletes earn provisional marks, including senior Chase Rathke who has a pair of automatic qualifying times in the 800-meter and 1500-meter.
