THE GAMES
Tarleton’s postseason chances will come down to the final weekend of the regular season as the Texans travel to Angelo State for a three-game series against the Rams. The series will open with a 6:30 p.m. single game Friday and wrap up with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.

THE SERIES
Tarleton and Angelo State have a rich history of 61 games dating back to 2005. The Texans have 21 wins in the series, including a 5-4 walk-off win in 10 innings in Stephenville earlier this season.

THE TEXANS
Tarleton heads into the regular season finale with a record of 20-25 and 14-18 in Lone Star Conference play. The Tarleton offense is led by Alec Humphreys, who boasts the sixth-best batting average in the Lone Star Conference at .341. The ace of the Texan pitching staff, Trevor Renfro, enters the weekend having tossed six consecutive complete games this season. Renfro is 8-3 this year and his 89 strikeouts is already a Tarleton single-season record.

THE OPPONENTS
Angelo State enters the weekend tied atop the Lone Star Conference standings with a record of 29-18 and 22-10 in Lone Star Conference play. The Rams are also ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings. Angelo State is led at dish by Paxton De La Garza’s .331 batting average while the Ram pitching staff has a pair of starters – Matt Shannon (2.40) and Bryce Zak (2.95) – with ERAs under 3.00.

WHAT’S AT STAKE
Tarleton enters the weekend trailing Cameron by two wins for the final playoff spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. To qualify for the postseason, Tarleton needs to win at least two of the three games at Angelo State while needing at least two wins from Eastern New Mexico over Cameron in Portales.
