Stephenville youth DeBoer, Harrison punch tickets to state meet

Three Stephenville Summer Track athletes competed on day one of regionals Friday, and two are moving on to state.

Lisa DeBoer, competing in the 14U girls division, and Rob Harrison, in 10U boys, are each advancing to the state meet after strong performances in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Region IV Track & Field Meet in The Colony. Day two of the meet is Saturday.

DeBoer punched her ticket to state in the 800 meter run. She placed fifth in 2:42.94, with the top five in each event moving on. DeBoer also ran the 400 in 1:13.51.

Harrison qualified for state in the shot put, placing fourth at regionals with a best heave of 19 feet, 8 inches.

Stephenville’s Mackenzie Gonzalez, 10U, finished the 400 in 1:26.41 and the 800 in 3:18.64.
