STEPHENVILLE (July 30, 2016) — Texas Clutch is off to a 2-0 start and is one win from guaranteeing itself a spot in the championship game at a high school age summer baseball tournament at Stephenville High School.

Clutch, comprised of a blend of SHS varsity and junior varsity players, rolled to a 8-0 win over Cowtown Outlaws, which had previously won its opener, 5-4, over JC Baseball. The game was called due to an 8-run mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth.

Clutch completed its back-to-back action with a 2-1 win over the Bandits, scoring the winning run on a fourth-inning balk before time expired in the fifth.

Clutch faces JC Baseball at noon on Sunday, and a win would place them in the 4 p.m. championship game, all at James T. Young Baseball Field. The consolation game is in between at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 and all proceeds from the gate and concession stand benefit SHS baseball. SHS and Henderson Junior High students are admitted free of charge.

Sunday’s action actually begins at 10 a.m. when the Cowtown Outlaws battle the Bandits.
