Jenkins doubles up with 14 points, 15 boards

(August 18, 2016) — Tarleton State didn’t just enjoy beaches in the Bahamas this week.

The Texans also celebrated victory over a pair of International Opponents, finishing their two-game exhibition slate with a 90-61 thumping of International Basketball Academy Elite as part of the Summer of Thunder series in Nassau Thursday night.

Romond Jenkins, Josh Hawley and Ridell Camidge scored 14 points to lead another balanced effort by the Texans. Anthony Davis added 11 points and Nosa Ebomwonyi netted nine.

The Texans enjoyed a 10-1 run to begin the second quarter, and led by as many as 35 down the stretch.

Tarleton led 50-32 by halftime, when Jenkins already had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Hawley led all scorers with 12 at intermission.

http://texasbank.comJenkins also had 15 abounds as Tarleton beat IBA Elite 49-34 on the boards. Davis finished with nine boards, just one shy of a double-double.

Denzel Smith, Chantz Chambers and Deshawn Riddick scored six points each for the Texans.

It was the second straight Bahamian blowout by Tarleton. The Texans led by as many as 30 in a 95-72 win over The College of Bahamas on Tuesday. Tarleton and its travel delegation return home Friday.

The Summer of Thunder marked the first International contests in Tarleton basketball history.
