STEPHENVILLE (August 23, 2016) — Stephenville had to come back Tuesday night.

Twice.

First the Honeybees had to overcome being blown out in the opening set. Then, after evening the match, they turned around a set later and found themselves on the brink of defeat with a third-set loss.

But Stephenville answered the challenge again, taking the fourth and fifth sets, both in dramatic fashion, to win on the road against a 5A opponent for the third time early in the season, beating White Settlement Brewer, 9-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Nicona Stilwell had 15 kills on 31 attempts and six blocks to lead the way, while Chloe Goodman collected 10 kills, three aces, two blocks and two digs for another strong all-around performance.

Jayci Morton and Emily Brandon added 10 kills each with Brandon tallying three blocks and Morton two. Ashon Garner had four blocks and two kills.

Taylor Garber and Hannah Huckabee engineered the offensive attack with 24 assists and 20, respectively. Libero Hailey Martin anchored the defense with 25 digs, while Kylee Ponder added eight, Huckabay seven and Garber five.

Stephenville competes next in the Leander ISD Volleypalooza tournament Thursday through Saturday.
