STEPHENVILLE (September 15, 2016) – There are big changes in store for third-year head coach Misty Wilson and the TexAnn basketball team after the women’s hoops schedule was announced Thursday.

In addition to the two new members of the Lone Star Conference – UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico – which will force league play to begin in December this year, every Lone Star Conference team will transition to playing league games on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons this year.

For the last several seasons, the teams have played on Wednesday and Saturday’s with the home team able to set their own time frame for the Saturday games. New league rules state that all Saturday LSC games will be played no later than a 2 p.m. on the women’s side.

The expanded league schedule, which has started after Christmas in each of the last few seasons, will begin on December 1 when the TexAnns host Midwestern State in Wisdom Gym to kick off league action. Tarleton will take a two-game hiatus from league play in mid-December with a regular season game against Lubbock Christian and an exhibition against Northern New Mexico, but every other game after December will count toward the conference standings.

Tarleton will begin the season with a home exhibition against Texas Wesleyan on November 2, but will then turn things around in a big way as Wilson and the TexAnns head to Austin for a Sunday afternoon exhibition bout with the Longhorns of the University of Texas at 2 p.m. in the Frank Erwin Center. It will be the second exhibition against a member of the Big 12 Conference by Wilson in her young career. Tarleton visited Baylor in Wilson’s debut as head coach.

The season will officially get under way when Tarleton hosts the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 11-12. The TexAnns will play Missouri S&T and Heartland Conference rival St. Mary’s in the home tournament. After that, Tarleton will head to Pueblo, Colorado for a two-day tournament before coming back to the Lone Star State for a Nov. 22 road trip to San Antonio for their second game of the season against St. Mary’s.
