STEPHENVILLE (September 20, 2016) — No. 2 Glen Rose grabbed an early leg up in the 8-4A district volleyball race Tuesday evening, sweeping Stephenville at Gandy Gym.

Glen Rose is 4-0 in the district with the 25-21, 25-16, 25-23 win, while Stephenville falls one game back at 3-1. Stephenville hosts Venus at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Glen Rose overcame a 15-12 Stephenville lead in the third set, scoring three straight to even it up and force a timeout, then continuing its run following the break. It ended up being a 5-0 run before a Glen Rose hitting error pulled Stephenville back within 17-16, but the Bees couldn’t get over the top.

The first set was even at 7-7 and again at 10-10 before Glen Rose took off with a 4-1 run and 14-11 advantage that spurred a Stephenville timeout. The Honeybees got right back within one at 15-14, but could never get over the top.

The second set was never close as Glen Rose jumped ahead 6-2 and cruised the whole way.
