Lions Club to induct five into SHS Athletics Hall of Fame

STEPHENVILLE (September 21, 2016) — The Stephenville Noon Lions Club is inducting fie past Stephenville High School athletic greats – four athletes and one coach – into the SHS Lions Club Athletic Hall of Fame on October 14.

The community is invited to celebrate with the inductees and Lions Club at 11:30 a.m. that day at City Hall at City Limits. Tickets can be purchased from any Lion Club member.

Inductees include:

Makayla Elliott Hart, a volleyball standout and track and field state champion in the discus. She lettered in track and field 2004-07 and in volleyball 2005-07.

Alison Snow, a four-year letter winner in softball who played all over the field for the Honeybees from 2005-08.

Trey Taylor, Stephenville’s only four-year letterman in both football and basketball who also excelled in track and field.

Coach Randall Edwards, who came to Stephenville in the fall of 1990 to  coach football and track and field and was on staff for four football state titles in the 1990s.

Barbara Shipp Leesley, a three-year lettewinner in basketball and a starting forward as a junior on the Honeybees’ state championship team of 1968.
