ERATH COUNTY (September 27, 2016) – Three vehicles were damaged by fire at Young Motors on US 377 between Stephenville and Dublin Monday evening.
According to Erath COUnty Fire Marshal Steve Cole, Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of fire behind the Young Motors building just before 9 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, units discovered a Chrysler 300 full engulfed in flames and a Ford Excursion also involved.
Cole said both of those vehicles were a total loss. Another vehicle, a Nissan Acura, was also damaged by flames, but only minor damage was done to it. He said from the initial investigation it appeared the fire started in the 300 and moved from there.
While he could confirm the fire was not initially set and nothing criminal was at play, Cole said the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
“We’re looking for a cause, but there was nothing criminal about this fire,” he concluded Tuesday. “The county guys got there and contained the fire quickly – less than an hour – and there were no structures lost.”
