Erath County, Tarleton boasts 21 combined athletes in 2016 NFR

STEPHENVILLE (October 3, 2016) — The National Finals Rodeo will again feature a large contingent of athletes with strong ties to Erath County, Tarleton State University and/or the surrounding area, with 21 local cowboys qualifying for the 2016 “Super Bowl of Rodeo.”

Erath County is home to 13 of the 30 team ropers to qualify for the NFR, including six headers and seven heelers.

Stephenville brothers Jacobs and Sterling Crawley will compete in the saddle bronc riding. Jacobs, who now resides in Boerne, is the reigning champ and world leader. There is also a local bareback rider, four tie-down ropers either local or formerly of Tarleton, and a bull rider who has moved to Stephenville.
