GLEN ROSE (October 17, 2016) — Stephenville is the only school in 8-4A to advance both its varsity boys and girls cross country teams from district to regionals.

The Yellow Jackets placed second and the Honeybees third in the district meet at Dinosaur Valley State Park Saturday. The boys were seven points out of first place but seven points within the regional cut. The girls safely qualified for regionals by 22 points.

“I’m extremely proud of the kids. We competed in a tough district today, tougher than in the last couple years,” said Stephenville head coach Kristi Mayes. “We fell short of winning district but we’re ready to advance to regionals and then to state.”

The Jackets scored 59 points to finish behind only Waxahachie Life with 52. Midlothian Heritage claimed the final team berth at regionals with 62 points, while Alvarado just missed out with 66.
