DUBLIN (October 27, 2016) — Dublin used a four-game win streak to lock up a playoff spot before a regular-season ending loss to Breckenridge Tuesday left the Lady Lions in a third-place tie with Eastland in District 6-3A, to be played off at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Bangs.

A win Friday means the Lady Lions take the No. 3 seed and face Clyde in the Region I-3A bi-district playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Brownwood. A loss would mean Dublin is the No. 4 seed from 6-3A and would face Colorado City with details to be determined.

Despite Tuesday’s loss, Dublin head coach Ryan Lewis is pleased with the momentum her team is taking into the postseason.

“We’re playing at a higher level than what we’ve played all year. The girls are playing with good chemistry, the main thing is we have to show consistency. That’s the key for us,” said Lewis. “Our defense has gotten a lot better, and on offense the main thing is consistency.”

Even in the loss to Breckenridge, Lewis saw positives.

“Our service game was real good and I was real happy with our service receive,” she said. “WE just had a few too many hitting errors at some points and a few serving errors.”

But all-in-all, going 4-1 in the final half of district was a great improvement on the 2-3 mark in the first half of 6-3A play.

“The girls responded well and were successful. They learned from the first time we played them to the second time what we had to fix to get the win,” Lewis said. “That was good to see from such a young team.”
