ERATH COUNTY (November 7, 2016) – No matter your political affiliation, there’s a party for you. After casting ballots in Tuesday’s election, voters are invited to attend one of a few watch parties in Erath County.

Gil Parks, member of the Erath County Republican Party Executive Committee, sent out a Facebook invitation, encouraging all Republicans and “reformed Democrats” to join the local arm of the GOP for an election results watch party at 7 p.m. at the Agave Restaurant.

Erath County Democratic Party has its eyes on another area of the City Limits campus, located at 1907 East Washington Street, with plans to meet at the Cabo around 8 p.m.

Polls close at 7 p.m., but it will take some time for results to be tabulated and unofficial totals to be released by election officials across the nation.

While two major parties host watch parties of their own, Erath County’s newest venue is opening its doors to everyone.

Election results could be hard for some to swallow, but Sonya Hance, manager of The Twist, said the venue will kick off its watch party little early, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Appetizers and finger foods from Hard Eight BBQ will be served.

Hance said the shindig was organized to celebrate democracy, the right to vote for the candidate of your choice and the facility’s recently full-bar status.

Tuesday night is the regular night for The Back Porch Show with Bobby Texas, which is broadcast live on Texas Homegrown Radio. Hance said the show, which airs from 8-10 p.m. every Tuesday featuring plenty of Texas talent, will not be held on Election Night, but will return to its regularly scheduled time on November 15.

Hance said live music is a mainstay of the Twist, due to the traffic at Twisted J Studios, where the Texas Homegrown Radio offices are located.

“A lot of artists stop by the station, so you never know who will be here,” she said.

The Twist is open, serving adult libations from noon until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon until midnight every Friday and Saturday. The bar, which is located inside the Twisted J building at 2281 North U.S. Highway 377, is closed Sunday.
