STEPHENVILLE (November 22, 2016) – Tarleton men’s basketball climbed three spots to No. 7 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches poll after its 3-0 start to the season.

This marks the 115th week the Texans have been ranked by the NABC in program history. Tarleton is one of 23 teams in NCAA Division II history to be ranked over 100 weeks in the NABC poll, and the only Lone Star Conference team to do so. The Texans have now been ranked in the top-10 73 times. It was also the seventh time in program history that Tarleton, who opened the season at No. 10, was ranked in the preseason top 10.

The Texans are the highest-ranked Lone Star Conference team in the NABC rankings, with Angelo State (2-0) coming in at No. 16. West Texas A&M (5-1) and Midwestern State (4-1) received votes in the poll. Western Washington (3-0), who Tarleton plays on Dec. 19 in the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, also received votes.

Tarleton will host its annual Thanksgiving Classic in Wisdom Gym with games against Colorado State-Pueblo on Nov. 25 and Emmanuel College (GA) on Nov. 26.
