Bearcats fall in state quarterfinals

GLEN ROSE (December 2, 2016) — Crawford muscled past De Leon, 41-14, to win the Region II-2A Division I football championship Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

The Bearcats were in the state quarterfinal round of the UIL playoffs for the first time since 1990, and even led 7-0 after the first quarter. But Crawford, which ended the opening stanza at the Bearcat 1, scored on the first play of the second quarter and went on to pile up 28 points and a three-touchdown lead by halftime.

The Bearcat touchdowns came on Kevin Yeager passes of 88 yards to Orson Sylva – highlighting a 99 yard touchdown drive – and 16 yards to Calvin Martin.
