(December 29, 2016) — What a difference a day makes.

Stephenville couldn’t have been happy with the way the Honeybees played in their first game back from the Christmas break on Wednesday, when Sanger upset them in overtime.

Stephenville couldn’t be happier, however, with the way the No. 10 Bees bounced back on Thursday.

The Honeybees concluded a two-game sweep to reach the Whataburger Blue Division consolation final by knocking off No. 7 Abilene Wylie in convincing fashion Thursday night, 65-46. They took control in the second quarter and blew out Wylie in the third at Saginaw High School.

The consolation final is set for 12:30 p.m. Friday against Liberty Christian.

Hailey Martin stayed hot from the arc with three 3-pointers for the second straight game and led the Bees with 17 points. Stephenville hit seven total 3-balls, five of them in the third quarter when the Bees outscored Wylie 20-6  to open up a dominating 55-32 margin.

It was 15-13 Wylie after a quarter, but Stephenville rolled to a 22-11 margin in the second for a 35-26 halftime lead.

Payton Wall scored 14 including all 10 of Stephenville’s points in the fourth quarter. Jayci Morton added nine, Ebony Green eight, Jordan Carter six, Liz Pack six, Blair Landes three and Madison Carter two.

The win came in the nightcap for the Bees, who defeated Christoval earlier in the day, 54-32. For a quick summary of that victory, click here.
