STEPHENVILLE (January 3, 2016) – Tarleton men’s basketball climbed two spots into the top 10 at No. 9 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

Tarleton’s ranking sets the stage for a national top-10 matchup on Thursday at Angelo State, who is ranked No. 5 in the nation after a 10-0 start.

The Texans (12-1, 4-0) have won nine straight games and are the only Lone Star Conference team with a 4-0 league record. The Texans are coming off an 87-68 win over Ouachita Baptist on New Years Eve.

This marks the 120th week the Texans have been ranked by the NABC in program history. The Texans have now been ranked in the top-10 74 times.

In addition to Tarleton and Angelo State representing the LSC in the NABC poll, West Texas A&M moved up three spots to No. 11. UT-Permian Basin received five votes in the poll. Tarleton defeated then-No. 12 Western Washington in Las Vegas, who is now ranked No. 24.
