ERATH COUNTY (January 17, 2017) – An Aledo man – Joshua Harbuck, 36 – was killed when the Ford F-250 he was driving crashed in the rain on Tuesday night.

According to Sr. Public Information Officer Dub Gillum with the Texas DPS, Harbuck, a pharmaceutical rep, was driving northbound on State Highway 220, 8 miles south of the US 67 intersection just after 6 p.m. when he lost control on the wet road and skidded off the east side, rolling and coming to rest on the vehicle’s top.

First responders were dispatched to the scene from Erath County and Hico. Volunteers from Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue, Erath County EMS, Cross Timbers First Responders, Hico VFD and Hamilton County EMS all arrived on scene to assist Highway Patrol with the crash.

While Harbuck was pronounced dead at the scene by Erath County Justice of the Peace Shawnee Bass, Dean Papaliodis, a 35-year-old physician who was riding in the passenger seat was not injured, Gillum said. The passenger told DPS Trooper Chance Emsminger, he and Harbuck were traveling from Austin back to Fort Worth on business. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Some of the volunteers working this accident had to leave the scene for a time as a secondary one-vehicle rollover occurred within minutes of the first. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle were uninjured and emergency crews returned to the first scene after assisting.
