Koontz wins heeling at National Western Stock Show and Rodeo

Williams third in tie-down, Crawley third in saddle bronc

(January 23, 2017) — Stephenville heeler Kory Koontz and heading partner Dustin Egusquiza won the team roping average, while Jacobs Crawley and Chase Williams were third in the average in saddle bronc riding and tie-down roping, respectively, at the prestigious National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver.

Egusquiza and Koontz won the finals Sunday in Denver, roping head and heels in 5.3 seconds to wrap up a three-head performance in 15.5 seconds for the average title and a total payout of more than $10,000. They also won the first round in 4.9.

Williams tied for seventh in the first round of team roping and was fifth in the finals, finishing off three head in 26.3 seconds. The Stephenville tie-down roper earned a total of more than $5,000.

Crawley was third in both Round 2 and the Finals in saddle bronc riding, scoring 251 points on three head for a total of more than $6,000.
