STEPHENVILLE (February 2, 2017) — It’s Stephenville night at Wisdom Gym Thursday, so hometown residents get in free to watch Tarleton State battle Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader.

Stephenville residents will be admitted free of charge for both games. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.

The women’s game comes with high stakes as ENMU has shocked everyone with a rise to sole possession of first place in the LSC standings. Tarleton is one of those chasing the Zias, as the TexAnns are tied for fourth three games back.

The TexAnns saw a late lead evaporate when they visited ENMU in December, ultimately falling, 73-68. Tarleton picked up 26 points and five boards from Mackenzie Hailey and 16 points and five rebounds from Ikpeaku Iwobi in the loss, while ENMU was paced by Kassandra Harris with 16 and nine, respectively. The Zias also received 14 and seven from Johnna McLelland and 12 points and four assists by Amari Dennis.

The Tarleton men have risen to No. 2 in the Bennett Computer power rankings, No. 11 in the D2Sida poll and No. 12 in the coaches poll. The Texans are outright leaders by a game in the LSC, while ENMU ninth of 10 teams in the league despite upsetting third-place West Texas A&M last week in Portales, NM.

Tarleton beat the Greyhounds, 92-79, in Portales in Decmeber. Guard Ridell Camidge poured in 24 points, Deshawn Riddick 19, center Romond Jenkins 15 with nine boards, Chantz Chambers 12 and Josh Hawley 12. ENMU was led by Cornell Neal with 20 points and Marquise Harris with 13.

Tarleton is also home Saturday for a 2 and 4 p.m. doubleheader against Western New Mexico.
