(February 8, 2017) — The second annual Bart VanKranenburg Memorial Night had the Huckabay-Lingleville basketball rivalry as its backdrop Tuesday evening at Lingleville High School, and the neighboring communities banded together to raise more than $5,500.

All proceeds benefit a memorial scholarship foundation in the name of VanKranenburg, a Lingleville student who passed away suddenly in December, 2014.

Lingleville resident Amy Stoker, whose family is close to the VanKranenburgs, was among the organizers of the event, which featured a baked sale, t-shirts and more, even including a signed district championship basketball by the Huckabay Lady Indians that went for $425.

Huckabay’s teams even wore the BVK35 t-shirts, for Bart VanKranenburg and his basketball jersey number, 35.

Lingleville won the boys’ game, 51-30, while Huckabay completed a perfect run through 18-A with a 50-11 victory in the girls contest.
