DUBLIN (February 20, 2017) – While the Dublin ISD election has been canceled due to the incumbents running unopposed, Dublin City Council members have a heated race on their hands, especially in Ward 3.

Sarah McCann, incumbent for Ward 3, was appointed to the seat after it was vacated before the unexpired term was up. Now, she’s running for election and has to face off against a host of challengers. Shawn Nichols, Roxana Lopez, Julio Lopez and Tommy Sperry are all running for the seat in Ward 3.

In Ward 1, incumbent John Johnson will face Rosemary Enhorabuena for the seat.

Things in Ward 2 are a bit different because the current council member, Bobby Mendez, resigned to take over as Dublin Police Chief. Now, Lee Jones and Marilyn Lovelace will go head to head for the seat.

Joel ‘Joey’ Muñoz will run unopposed for the seat in Ward 4 after the current council member, Melvin ‘Mac’ McMullin stated he would not seek re-election.

Dublin Mayor David Leatherwood is also unopposed this election and will serve another term as Mayor.

Dublin voters can take to the polls May 6, or the week before for early voting. The Flash will have more voter information as the election nears.
