(February 20, 2017) — Stephenville FAITH home school athletics has secured its reputation as a football powerhouse, and now the Knights have a state title on the hardwood, too.
FAITH won its first basketball state title in Division II of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO) Saturday, completing the two-day state tournament in Round Rock with a resounding 44-12 win over Griffon School. The team is coached by Edward Heinze and had All-TAIAO tournament selections in Sawyer Breeding and Zane Cole.
While the Knights celebrated their state title, their junior high teams were busy showing the future is also bright for FAITH basketball.
The junior high girls finished second in the state tournament, falling to Founders Classical in the championship, 23-19. The junior high boys team placed third at the event, where the high school girls team also competed.
From the junior high girls team, Delaney Cole was named All-TAIAO Tournament. The high school girls are coached by Jaynelle Nowell and the junior high girls by FAITH athletic director Rod Cole.
