Stephenville golf teams dominate Optimist tourney at Legends

STEPHENVILLE (March 8, 2017) — Stephenville took first and second with its top two boys teams and also won the girls division at the Optimist Invitational at Legends Country Club Wednesday.

Bunker Funderburgh shot a 78 to earn the top medalist honor and lead Stephenville Boys I to a team score of 320. Kendall Roberts and Jake Henridkson each scored 80 and Tyler Lane 82 to round out the team total. Rosser Orr finished in 92 strokes.

Finishing behind them in second was Stephenville Boys II, led by Tyler Scouten in 93 strokes. Bylor Brooks shot 101, Jaren Dahl 104, Justin Cockerell 112 and Kaleb Moore 138.

The Honeybees girls team was led by top medalist Maddi Grimes in 93 strokes. Taylor Harpole and Maycee Decker shot 95 and Morgan Kinsey 96 for a team total of 379. Allee Mainard finished at 103. Honeybee medalists were Maren Isham at 101, Tatum Dobson 101 and Peyton Barberee 105. Yellow Jacket medalists were Trent Dietrich 114, Foster Brumbaugh 119 and Hayden Monk 133.
