No. 4 TexAnns finish third at MSU Invitational

WICHITA FALLS (March 15, 2017) – No. 4 Tarleton women’s golf finished third at the Midwestern State Invitational at the par-72 Wichita Falls Country Club on Tuesday.

The TexAnns shot a 316 in the first round and improved their score by six strokes to finish with a 626 (+50). Dallas Baptist won the tournament with a 613 (+37). Tarleton was one of six Lone Star Conference team competing with the TexAnns finishing ahead of all conference opponents.

Tarleton totaled 96 pars, which was third best out of 20 teams, and also had 12 birdies in the two rounds.

Casey Wild and Lydia Traylor led the TexAnns as they both were part of a four-way tie for third place with a score of 152 (+8). Wild shot a 77 in the first round and had a two-stroke improvement on the second day with a 75 (+3). Traylor had a 74 in the opening round and a 78 in the second round. Wild had 21 pars and four birdies while Traylor carded a team-best 23 pars and three birdies.

Beatriz Prados moved up one spot to finish in a tie for 13th with a final score of 158 (+14). Prados recorded an 81 on Monday and followed with a 77 this afternoon. Prados matched Wild with a team-leading four birdies.

Sarah Gee finished with a 165 (+9) and tied for 46th. Gee had rounds of 84 and 81. Kerbey Kipp improved her score by nine strokes to card an 80 on the final day and finish with a 169 (+25).

Tarleton will play in the Otter Invitational in Seaside, California on March 20-21.
