Dublin – Memorial Services for Michael Hoffman, 57, a construction concrete finisher, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Harvey Baptist Church Life Center with Rev. Barry Linville officiating and assisted by Rev. Anthony Svajda.

Mike Hoffman was born on March 18, 1960, and celebrated his 57th birthday going to be with the Lord after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Mike was born to Clyde and Ethel Hoffman in Canon City, Colorado. Most of his growing up years were spent in Cabool, Missouri, where he lived on a farm with his family and where he learned to build and work hard with his hands. As an adult, Mike moved to West Texas to work in the gas fields with his lifelong friend, Gary Cross.  After a short term of building experience in the Comanche area, he moved to Erath County, Texas, where he began building dairy barns. He and Gary started their barn building careers with Bud Sakarada . Later they started their own business in concrete and built dairy barns in Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Colorado, and Oklahoma under the name Cross Construction.

Known as “Hoffy” to his friends, Mike’s skill in concrete work was well known. He shared his hard work ethic with many of those who worked with him. As one of his friends put it, “His personal job notes alone in Erath County and surrounding area are gold.”

Mike loved to make cedar tables and giving them as gifts, fishing and hunting.  He shared this love with his father who preceded him in death and with his family that survive him. Being outdoors was an essential part of his life.

Mike loved his family and will be greatly missed by so many who loved him.  He married Dorothy Brown on January 26, 1992, and shared 25 years of loving life with her. He loved his children and grandchildren and shared many happy hours as “Papa.” Mike is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Dublin; Marilyn Hancock Branham and Michael and their children, Susanne, Allison, Michael and Abigail of Lawton, Oklahoma; Carolyn Hancock Medina and D.J. and their children, Kara and Truitt of Dublin; William Hancock and Nikki of Hico; Michael Hoffman Davis and his son, Austin, and Kana Hoffman Davis of Missouri; his mother, Ethel Hoffman, Springfield, Missouri; his siblings, Sherry Hoffman Linville and Barry, Strafford, Missouri; James Robert Hoffman and Angie, Joplin, Missouri; Stanley Hoffman and Jane, Nixa, Missouri; and Patricia Hoffman Dixon and Paul, Republic, Missouri. He is survived also by many, many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father.
