ALVARADO (March 22, 2017) — Nick Woods tossed a no hitter to lead Alvarado (10-5-2, 2-1) to a 4-1 victory over Stephenville (11-4-2, 1-2)  in 8-4A district baseball action Tuesday night.

It was not a typical no hitter as the Yellow Jackets drew six walks from Woods and even scored an unearned run for a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Alvarado scored twice in the third and twice again in the fourth.

Easton Jones went five innings and allowed only two earned runs – but four total – for Stephenville. He struck out seven, giving him 19 strikeouts in his last 12 innings of work, all in district play. Jones allowed six hits and two walks in the loss. Caleb Smith pitched the final inning for the Jackets, yielding only a walk.

Stephenville welcomes Godley to James T. Young Field on Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
