STEPHENVILLE (May 9, 2017) – Former Tarleton wide receiver turned cornerback Dominique Martin is headed to Los Angeles with the hopes of continuing his football career after earning an invitation to the NFL Rams’ Mini Camp this weekend.

“My agent called me this morning and told me about the opportunity,” said Martin Tuesday afternoon. “Right after I hung up with my agent, the Rams called with my flight information so I’ll head to Los Angeles for a chance at a contract.

“It feels good,” he continued. “It feels like a dream is starting to come true. I’m not going to say it has yet because I still need to earn that contract, but I’m going to go to L.A. this weekend and put my best foot forward and try to earn that contract.”

Martin just finished his four-year career at Tarleton, which started on the offensive side of the ball. A native of Lancaster, Martin hauled in 35 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons on offense before moving to cornerback last fall following the return of head coach Todd Whitten and the addition of defensive coordinator Marcus Patton.

He flourished in his new role, earning honorable mention All-LSC honors after his lone season on defense. He made 41 tackles while breaking up 15 passes and intercepting five more.

The Los Angeles Rams, formerly of St. Louis, are in the NFC West Division of the National Football League and are coached by first-year head coach Sean McVay.
