Tarleton to award more than 1,440 diplomas at spring commencement

STEPHENVILLE (May 9, 2017) — Tarleton State University will conduct its largest ever graduation, with the anticipated awarding of 1,449 degrees this weekend during seven commencement ceremonies in Wisdom Gym on the school’s Stephenville campus.

Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio will confer nine associate’s, 1,265 bachelor’s, 179 master’s and five doctoral degrees in seven ceremonies, beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, with College of Science and Technology and College of Education curriculum and instruction graduates.

Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp and Regent Charles W. Schwartz will greet graduates.

To accommodate the increased number of guests expected for Tarleton’s spring commencement ceremonies, the university will provide free shuttle service from lots P-16, P-17, P-20 and P-26 to Wisdom Gym. Guests who need assistance to and from their cars may pick up a shuttle in front of the gym’s south-facing doors. Additional handicap parking adjacent to Wisdom Gym will be available.

Rome Street will be closed to through traffic from the entrance of Lot P-26 (Nursing Building) south toward the Sloan Street intersection to ensure pedestrian safety; however, visitors still can access the campus parking lot from Frey Street.

Tarleton State University will hold seven commencement ceremonies spanning two days, May 12 and 13, at Wisdom Gym. More than 1,440 diplomas will be awarded to graduates of the university’s six academic colleges.

7 p.m.
College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
