Tarleton’s Chambers, Williams selected for nationals

STEPHENVILLE (May 16, 2017) — Rascellis Williams and Chantz Chambers were selected to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Brandeton, Florida on May 25-27.

Williams will compete in the high jump after clearing an NCAA provisional mark of 6′ 11″ (2.11m) at the Wes Kittley Invitational. Williams currently ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and ninth in the nation in his event. This will be the sophomore’s second appearance at the outdoor championships.

Chambers will represent the Texans in the long jump, after posting an NCAA provisional mark of 24′ 9.25″ (7.55m) at the Angelo State David Noble Relays. The senior from Shreveport is currently tied for second in the Lone Star Conference and 12th in the nation. This will be Chambers’ first time to qualify for the outdoor championships.

Both athletes were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team for their performances this season.
