FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 29, 2017, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 28, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.

LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 29, at the Church of Christ on Pearl Street.

MEMORIALS: If desired, memorials may be made to Church of Christ, 500 N. Pearl Street, Comanche, Texas 76442.

He was born on August 13, 1938, in Comanche County, to Riley and Pansy Mae (Godfrey) Hilliard. After graduating from Comanche High School he attended draughon’s Business College in Abilene and worked a short time for John Deer Tractor Company there. In 1962 Sid Carney offered him a job at Moorman Manufacturing Company, where he worked as ADM Shipping/Receiving foreman until he retired in 2000. Late in 1973 he was introduced to his future wife, Diana Jean Nice, by his sister-in-law, Glenda Hilliard, and her aunt, Virginia Carver, for whom Diana was working as a sales clerk. They were married in Abilene two years later, on August 22, 1975. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ on Pearl Street in Comanche. A gentle and quiet man, Waylon will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; one daughter, Thresia Capano and her husband, Paul; one son, Scott Hilliard and his wife, Brenda; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Hilliard; seven grandchildren: Matthew and wife Amelia, Kristin, Benjamin, Jordon, Ashley, Nicholas, and Julianna; one brother, William and wife, Glenda; one brother-in-law, Alton Lusk, and one sister-in-law, Helen Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen Kent Hilliard; and his sister, Bobbie Nell Lusk.
