Mike McClure headlines Tarleton’s 2017 Backyard Summer Mix June 22

STEPHENVILLE (June 15, 2017) — Get into the swing of summer Thursday, June 22, when Red Dirt artist Mike McClure takes the stage at Tarleton State University Alumni Association’s first Backyard Summer Mix of the season.

The free, family-friendly get-together kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Alumni House, 343 N. McIlhaney St. in Stephenville. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and bring lawn chairs. The Tarleton Alumni Association (TAA) will provide refreshments and games such as corn hole, washers and horseshoes.

The second Backyard Summer Mix of the season takes place Thursday, July 20—same time, same place.

A native of Tecumseh, Okla., McClure has produced albums by other Red Dirt artists such as Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland & the Stragglers, Scott Copeland, Johnny Cooper, Whiskey Myers, and the Turnpike Troubadours. Garth Brooks recorded McClure’s “I’d Rather Have Nothing” for his 2005 Limited Series Box Set on the album The Lost Sessions, selling more than 2 million copies.
