(July 23, 1951 – June 30, 2017)

Randy Wayne Lay, 65, of Euless, passed away June 30, 2017 in Dallas.

Honoring his request for cremation, a family graveside service will be planned in the near future at the Johnson Cemetery in Erath County.

Randy was born in Stephenville, TX on July 23, 1951 to the late Willard and Joyce Kilcrease Lay. He graduated from Stephenville High School in 1969 and went on to play football in Northwood Community College. In high school he was a good athlete and enjoyed playing on the baseball and football teams. Classmates stated that he was liked by everyone…a smile always on his face…and always ready for a good joke. He worked his entire career in construction in the North Texas and South Arkansas areas. At his death, he was enjoying a career with KPost Roofing & Waterproofing. A true Texan, this would likely be his motto: “You might give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars you’re in Texas!”

He is survived by his three siblings, Betty Proctor and husband Mike of Amarillo, Pat Hammett and husband Larry of Stephenville, Willard Lay Jr. and wife Debbie of Mansfield; five children, Raina Lay Smith and husband Kyle of Burleson, Chase Lay of San Jose, CA, Lauren Lay and Rachel Spire of Grapevine, Louis Lay of San Antonio, Elizabeth Anne Quebe and husband Josh of Houston; two grandsons, Madison Lay and Henry Lay of Prosper, TX.

Memorials may be made to the Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville, where the needs of troubled children and families are met by providing residential group care, foster family care, and adoptions; or the Guns & Hoses Foundation in North Texas, which supports families of police officers and firefighters lost in the line of duty.
