STEPHENVILLE (July 11, 2017) – Registration is open for the 2018 Stephenville Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Stephenville program. This nine session course lasts nine months and is designed to “[challenge] its participants to make a difference in the community, to make a positive contribution to our quality of life, and to be prepared to become the leaders of tomorrow.”
Application forms are due by Jul. 21 at 5 p.m. Applications are available at the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce or at StephenvilleTexas.org. Applications can be dropped off at the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce or mailed to PO Box 306, Stephenville, Texas, 76401.
Applicants will be notified if they are chosen by Aug. 15. The course costs 500 dollars.
“This program is geared toward individuals who are interested in learning more about the community and who have a desire to serve in leadership roles,” Stephenville Chamber of Commerce executive director July Danley wrote in an email interview. “The program seeks representation from a cross-section of the community, including business, agriculture, industry,education, the arts, government, community-based organizations, retired residents, etc.”
Sessions will focus on issues such as city and county government, education, industry, health care, agriculture, transportation, technology and quality of life.
“This program creates an awareness of community resources and needs while enhancing the leadership skills of participants,” Danley wrote. “There are now over 300 alumni that are using the knowledge gained and relationships built through the program to serve and lead more effectively in their workplace, schools, churches, government and throughout the community.”
