STEPHENVILLE (July 17, 2017) — Dr. Tod Allen Farmer has been named chief of staff to Tarleton State University President F. Dominic Dottavio, effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Dr. David Weissenburger, who has held the position since July 2014.

Currently head of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Farmer joined Tarleton in 2006 following a successful career with the Springtown (Texas) Independent School District.

“I am pleased that Dr. Farmer has agreed to serve as chief of staff,” Dottavio said. “A proven leader, he understands the traditional and emerging challenges of higher education. I am confident that he will play a major role in helping us become the premier student-focused university in Texas and beyond.”

In addition to managing the operations of the Office of the President and serving as an official representative of the university, Farmer will coordinate legal and policy issues with The Texas A&M University System as well as state agencies and organizations.

“As a young Tarleton undergraduate student, I never imagined that I would one day have the opportunity to serve Tarleton as chief of staff,” Farmer said. “I am deeply honored and incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to make a greater contribution to my alma mater.”

Farmer earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tarleton in 1992, and his master’s of education in 1998. Additionally, he holds a doctorate of education from the University of North Texas.

Weissenburger moves into the role of interim dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Services.
