The family of Wilbert Sims created this Life Tributes page to make it easy to share your memories. So share a memory below because a comforting word from you means a lot.

Wilbert L. Sims, 78 died July 17th, 2017 after a long illness in his home in Hico Texas.

Wilbert was born on August 17th, 1938 in Paris Texas to James R. and Elizabeth M. Sims.

He grew up in Fort Worth where he graduated from Green B. Trimble Technical High School in 1955. He joined the U. S. Army in December 1955 until 1959 and then served in the reserves until May 1962.

Wilbert married Doris S. Sims and were happily married for 57 years. Wilbert was a very devoted and loving husband. Their marriage was a special union that some people could only wish for. He loved being Doris’s Handy man, he was the “King of the Honey Do’s.”

Wilbert and Doris became parents to their only daughter Kathy at eight years of age which they adopted in 1967.

He worked at Container Corporation of America in Arlington Texas for 30 years as a Graphic Print Press Operator until he and Doris moved to their little country home in Hico Texas, which Wilbert pretty much built from scratch all by himself. He loved the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed working on the house and yard. He was also an avid dog and animal lover.

Wilbert was a kind, sweet and gentle soul. He had a smile for everyone he met. He was not an attention seeker and it it was fine with him to listen and make sure everyone else was happy; however he had strong views and opinions on politics as well as some world affairs. He would express them when he felt needed. He loved westerns and adventure movies.

He adored dogs, children and loved all his family. We would kid Wilbert that it was in that exact order. His little dog Muffy he loved so much for 12 years will most definitely miss him, as we all will.

The family takes great comfort knowing Wilbert is with his Lord and savior and we will all see him again someday.

He is survived by his wife Doris S. Sims, his daughter, Kathy Rountree, (husband Keith Kohutek), granddaughter, Jessica Carroll (husband Trip Carroll) great grand daughter, Rosie Carroll.
