(February 13, 1950 ~ July 21, 2017)

Martha Jane Deaver Cavett, 67, of Haskell, formerly of Stamford, Texas, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at her home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Selden Baptist Church, 4209 FM 913, Stephenville, TX.

Martha Jane was born February 13, 1950 in Stephenville, Texas, the daughter of the late Lena (Lee) Faye Walker Deaver and Ted R. Deaver. In 1968, she graduated from Stephenville High School. In 1980, she married Rusty Cavett in a beautiful garden wedding at her grandparents’ home in Bluff Dale, Lois and Lack Deaver. For 20 years, she worked in banking as a data processing manager. She later held positions involving medical records and human resources at hospitals and a prison facility where she received several awards. Martha Jane loved her family dearly, and always put them first. She was especially involved with her two girls, never missing a function involving her children. Martha treasured spending time with her precious grandson. She also enjoyed reading. Martha was a Baptist and grew up in the First Baptist Church here in Stephenville.

She is survived by her husband, Rusty Cavett of Odessa; two daughters, Emily Paige Cavett of Haskill and Erin Bryne Cavett of Odessa; grandson, Jeremy Rayshawn Stinnett, Jr.; siblings, Steve Deaver of Austin, David Deaver of Hico, LeAnn Jones and husband Kevin, of Stephenvile; nephew, Jordan Jones of Stephenville, aunts Sharon Brown and Shirley Semler of Houston; cousin Thomas Brown, Jr. and family; as well as a host of dear friends.

Martha loved Stephenville! We are choosing to call this a Celebration of Life service for Martha because her shackles are gone, she’s dancing in heaven. We will be placing a memorial headstone in her honor beside Momma at Indian Creek Cemetery.

Please feel free to come with your best memory, funny story, pictures, anything you would like to share with us. We will sing some songs, praise God, and remember a beautiful life.

Love to all, Steve, David, LeAnn, Kevin and Jordan, and Janey’s family, our very special nieces, Emily Paige Cavett and Erin Bryne Cavett, and Martha’s Superboy grandson, Little Jeremy (JuJu).

The family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Diabetes Assn.
