A big upset was pulled Tuesday evening at Lions Club Field in Stephenville City Park, the second in as many days in the Texas Teenage 15U baseball championship. The Stephenville Rangers (8-4), who entered the tournament as the No. 2 qualifier from Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department, stunned the previously unbeaten SPARD champion Stephenville Royals (11-1) in a 5-4 nail biter.

It’s on to the winner’s bracket final at 4 p.m. Wednesday against De Leon Elite for the Rangers, while the Royals meet the Dublin Yankees at noon in an elimination game. Lovelady faces Winters in the other elimination contest at 9 a.m. with the winner of that and the noon contest meeting at 7 p.m.

The double-elimination state tournament continues through Thursday.
