Richardson named interim vice president of Tarleton finance division

STEPHENVILLE (July 27, 2017) — Dr. Rick Richardson has been named interim vice president for Tarleton State University’s Division of Finance and Administration, effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Dr. Tye Minckler, who joins the University of Washington-Tacoma.

Currently, an assistant professor in Tarleton’s College of Business Administration, Richardson joined the university in 2009 as vice president of institutional advancement and has been instrumental in helping develop a new campus for the school’s Fort Worth center scheduled to open in 2019.

“I greatly appreciate Dr. Richardson’s willingness to serve as chief financial officer during the next academic year,” said Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio. “His experience and background in higher education administration and finance will ensure we continue to provide the resources needed to be the premier student-focused university in Texas and beyond.”

As part of Tarleton’s leadership team, Richardson will oversee the budgetary and fiscal affairs of the university, including planning, monitoring and managing overall financial plans, policies, programs and operations.

Richardson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baylor University and his MBA from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He has a doctorate in organizational leadership from Regent University in Virginia and a Juris doctorate from Baylor University School of Law.

He is a certified public accountant and recognized by the State Bar of Texas as an attorney and counselor at law.
