Leonard (Len) Moncrief

(November 26, 1936 – July 30, 2017)

Leonard (Len) Moncrief, 80, of Selden, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 31st at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Len was born on November 26, 1936 in Alexander to the late Thomas A. and Bessie Vera Fail Moncrief. He was a graduate of Dublin High School, Class of 1956, and later that year, joined the United States Air Force. He married Shirley Noland on October 1, 1960 in Selden. Len was a member of Selden Baptist Church, and served his church as a deacon for many years. He had a passion for dairy farming, owning and operating a dairy for over 45 years. His love of family and dairy farming was evident in all aspects of his life. In 1984, Len was one of the founding members of the Selden Volunteer Fire Department.

Len is survived by his wife, Shirley, a happy marriage of over 56 years; a son, Mike and wife Linda Moncrief of Selden; daughters, Vickie and husband Dale Mabry of Stephenville, and Sheila and husband Ken Stewart of Selden; grandchildren, Lensie Mabry and husband Drew Walker, Mikka Moncrief and husband B. J. Hill, Matt and wife Rachel Mabry, Macy Moncrief and husband Kyle Tanner, Blake Stewart, Brandon and wife Kenzie Stewart, Hannah Mabry, and Bradley Stewart; great grandchildren, Hudson Hill, Addison Walker, and Brylie Hill; sister, Betty and husband Perian Cheatwood of Burleson; brothers, Jimmy and wife Doris Moncrief of Hamilton, Travis and wife Caroline Moncrief of Granbury; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many many friends.

Besides his parents, Len was also preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow, Bill, Tom, James, and John Moncrief; sisters, Tempie Bingham, Florine Bundrant, and Frances Ivie.

The Moncrief family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Selden Baptist Church, 4209 F. M. 913, Stephenville,Texas 76401.
