STEPHENVILLE (August 4, 2017) – Saturday, August 5, the Yellow Jacket Band Fans will host the first Back to School Band Bash. All Stephenville ISD band students sixth through 12th grade are invited to enjoy an evening of music, food and games. The Bash will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stephenville Optimist Jaycee Park.
“The purpose is to get students excited about the year,” YJBF Coordinator Emily McLemore said. “This will be the first time sixth through 12th grade has had a function together.”
Free hot dogs, chips and water will be provided for the first 500 people who attend. Families and siblings of band members are invited.
In addition to food, there will be games, such as a blow-up obstacle course. Different high school band sections will host booths and games as well. For example, the percussion section will play Minute to Win It games.
Kona Ice will sell shaved ice, and YJBF will receive 20 percent of the proceeds. Attendees will also have the opportunity to become a member of the YJBF, a non-profit group that supports the Stephenville ISD band program.
“Our goal is to get families involved and to meet each other and build relationships,” McLemore said.
